But, I would suggest, after getting a steady order for your products, you should try to hold inventory to minimize these greedy dropshippers. Just dont buy more then you can sell. Some drop shippers help you create a website, and dont do much else. They charge you for a website and then, dont help you at all. They already got you. And they might even try to get you to hold inventory even with no customer base. Be careful. If I were to try a drop shipper, I would spend the least as possible. Like print out my own business card with a cheaply created website and see if people buy. Then, I would slowly upgrade. If it doesnt work, I throw away the free website and toss the cheap business cards and start all over.

Well actually i do personally know a very experienced ebay seller who has a few sources online, where he is able to purchase things at an extremely low price, allowing him to sell them and make a lot of money. He started small a year and a half ago, with a purchase of 100 identical items… sold them and since then has been expanding. Right now he has 3 warehouses, and 15 people who work for him, all receiving 15$+ salary for simple tasks.
But if he is doing so well, why would he want to tell anyone how he is doing it… then he would have to compete with you to make it in ebay!!!

In my experience, you are lucky to get a sale price of $30 for a brand new wool sweater on eBay. You can also find quality wool sweaters in a thrift store for about $3. The item might be used, but if it is a quality name brand and in very good condition, you can sell it on eBay for $20 – $30. Many people are willing to purchase gently used clothing as long as it is in good condition and a quality or designer name. So, if you purchase the item from a drop shipper, your profit will only be a couple of dollars at best. If you find the sweater on your own in a thrift store, consignment store, or garage sale, you have significantly increased your profit margin to and will profit around $17 to $27 on just one item.
Granted, you don’t have to find or store the item when you work with a drop shipper, but you aren’t making any money either. Sellers who use drop shippers are forced to keep their starting prices high or they will lose money. They have to charge at least what the drop shipper is charging them. You can undercut the competition by pricing your items significantly lower and still make a nice profit.
Look through eBay completed listings at how many items are not sold because the starting price is inflated. These are the sellers who use drop shippers. These sellers also usually have multiple listings for the same exact items with the same exact photo (provided by the drop shipper). These sellers constantly relist the same item over and over again and end up paying a lot of fees, without having many sales to pay the fees. Furthermore, many eBay sellers use the same drop shipping companies, so their listings and photos look the same. These sellers are saturating eBay with too much of the same product. You are much better off doing the legwork yourself and finding unique items that stand out and drive bidders to your listings.

What if the drop shipper suddenly runs out of the item and you've sold several. Your buyers are expecting that item and a excuse to why you don't have it now, will not cut it with your buyers, after they have waited sometimes for days waiting for the listing to end.
What if the drop shipper doesn't send the item to your buyers. Now you have a buyer that has alreadly paid for the item and they are writing or calling you asking why their stuff hasn't arrived. What are you going to say? Will you have all the tracking info to research that shipment? What if the drop shipper sends the wrong item?
This is my thinking when it comes to drop shippers.
Why set your self up for failure. This is your business. It's your responsibility to have the the item that you sell. It's your responsibility to properly package the item against breakage. And, it's your responsibility to ensure that the item arrives to your buyer.
Now, you want to hand over all this this responsibliltiy to someone that you don't know.
Here's something else to think about.
If the item arrives broken or doesn't arrive at all, you will get a negative feedback, thus affecting your business and your 30 day DSR ratings.
Your buyer will file a dispute with ebay and PayPal to get their money back. And, they will win.
So, why would you want to put yourself through this?
Wouldn't you want to ensure that you take your own pictures, package properly, have the tracking info in your files?
